Zink Drives Winning Run In 1-0 UTA Win Over Texas State
Taylor Zink of UTA and Ross S. Sterling grad delivered the game winning sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to lift the Mavericks past Texas State 1-0 snapping a nine game skid. Kenna Terry pitched for Southeastern Louisiana in a 7-6 loss to Lamar as Lamar and SELU sit mid-conference. Lamar seniors Andrew Dewey and Trevor Swint logged varying action across multiple games, with Dewey posting a .220 average and Swint recording two earned runs allowed in limited innings. Bills of other teams include Scranton/Wilkes-Barre defeat of Buffalo 12-5, Brown losing 12-4 to Princeton in CWPA, and LeTourneau pair Ryan and Chris Bertram contributing in wins over Dallas and Mary Hardin-Baylor. Texas Lutheran golfer Adam Peterson finished 13th at the ASC Championship as Schreiner claimed the title.

Barbers Hill High School announced several track and field athletes will compete at the Region 3 4A meet in Huntsville after strong showings at the area meet at Babe Zaharias Stadium in Beaumont. Female qualifiers include Kirstein Santana first in 800m Emily Gunderson first in pole vault Shelben Speer third in high jump Jasmyn Lewis third in triple jump Brielle Eskridge.
