Mont Belvieu Council approves two new hires and project funding
The Mont Belvieu council hired Ricardo Villagrand as city engineer and David Fowler as city planner, both starting in May, and added a police officer Drew Childress from Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. They approved about 3 million dollars for Barbers Hill ISD coordinated utility and drainage work to serve current and future school construction. The Perry Avenue widening to four lanes was discussed but postponed.

Rotary Club Shrimp and Catfish Festival Returns
The Baytown Rotary Club hosts its annual Shrimp and Catfish Festival at Royal Purple Raceway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday May 4. The fundraiser aims to raise $100,000 with prizes including a 2013 Toyota Tundra. Last year the event netted $96,000, according to Pam Warford, past president and festival committee member.
