U S Bombers Edge Closer To Haiphong In North Vietnam

U S Navy bombers pressed toward Haiphong for a third day in the Red River Delta raid, destroying a bridge span and hitting multiple targets. Four Soviet built SAMs fired but missed. Three U S jets were lost in 24 hours, raising losses to 233 since raids began. In the south, Viet Cong attacked air fields, no casualties reported. Allied forces noted a lull in ground fighting with occasional skirmishes on the central coast.

Rev Kollmeyer Elected Lutheran Synod Officer

Pre-School Clinic Set Here April 25 to 28

Baytown public schools announce a district wide pre-school clinic for children entering first grade next September. Readiness tests eye ear and speech exams will aid teachers in guiding placement. PTA volunteers assist registrations and testing is scheduled April 25 through 28 at multiple church locations with timed sessions for each neighborhood elementary.

More than 100 attend the Baytown Lions Clubs luncheon at the Tower to honor charter Lion Willie Busch. The Baytown Sun’s Fred Hartman spoke as a plaque from the club was presented by president Dudley Huckabee. Eight charter members, including C. J. Bailey and J. R. Kelley, helped Busch organize the Lions Club in 1928.
