Chambers Courthouse Facelift At Anahuac
Chambers County Court house in Anahuac is undergoing a 2.27 million facelift after the commissioners awarded Evans Construction Co. the contract. The bid was lowest among eight, with the highest at 298 thousand. Construction began April 1 and will finish within 160 working days. Judge Oscar F. Nelson Jr. outlined interior and mechanical work including plumbing, wiring, air conditioning, new monumental windows, new flooring and ceilings, and a rebuilt jail area. The project is funded by warrants redeemed within six years, with a tax rise not exceeding nine cents per $100 valuation, aided by the county’s lack of bonded debt. Junior facilities for jurors and staff are rebuilt with new lighting, PA system, and soundproofing.
