U S Rep office said State Department located Baytown Fulbright scholar John Ross Carter who was thought to be near the Ceylon upheaval. He and his wife Sandra McNeill left Colombo for Japan on April 1 and April 10 respectively. Carter was seen boarding a plane for Japan and is now reported safe in Japan. Relatives had feared he might be held in civil war torn Ceylon.

Lions Club Oyster Fry Slated for May First in Baytown

The Baytown Lions Club will sponsor an oyster fry Saturday May 1 at the Bayshore Rod Reel and Gun Club 3223 Minnesota from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eddie Huron and his crew will run the event with tickets at 1.50. Liquor by the Drink Bill Faces House Vote

Baytown Sets May 4 Runoff For City Council

The council scheduled a May 4 runoff after April 6 results. Mayor race features incumbent Glen Walker versus Don H. Hallum who left District 3 for mayor.
