Nelson says he will pursue Irby’s fiscal conservatism and looks forward to the fall race after planning his daughter’s wedding.
Baytown council members debate paying stipends for office expenses. Three non reelection candidates sponsor the item proposing a 400 dollar mayoral and 300 dollar council stipend. They seek monthly reimbursements for cell phones and local travel, despite charter and state law opposing compensation.
Anahuac school district trustees approved up to 50000 for press box renovations after a structural engineer called the structure unsafe. They also voted to replace wooden home-side benches with aluminum seating and to buy a portable hand crank wheelchair lift to improve accessibility for handicapped spectators.
