Baytown rolls out curbside recycling carts pilot
Baytown will test wheeled 96 gallon recycling carts in three neighborhoods starting June 1, replacing 18 gallon tubs. The six month first phase aims to raise recycling and cut landfill waste while expanding accepted materials to cardboard and all plastics. City Manager Bob Leiper and Waste Management's Thane Harrison presented the plan at the March 24 meeting.

Fine Rides at Bicentennial Park Highlight for Weekend
Bayshore Fine Rides Car Club hosts its 23rd annual Fine Rides Show and CASI Chili Cook-off at Bicentennial Park. Free music starts 8 p.m. with Na Na Sha, playing 50s to 70s hits, followed Saturday by Legends Band from 10:30 a.m. to noon and 4-Barrel Ramblers 1:30 to 3 p.m. A tribute to Baytown bluesman Mean Gene Kelton is planned. Bring lawn chairs as seating is on the ground. The event features many classics, customs, hot rods and more.
