Young runners raise funds at diabetes awareness walk
SFA third grader Kegan Adrian raised 400 dollars for the diabetes walk and led the school in the event. He used a slow start and gradual sprint on a 2.5 mile loop, collecting donations from his mom’s workplace and by knocking on doors in the neighborhood. Raegen Hill, a first grader, used the same pacing strategy. The walk honors Jacquelyn Hall, a former PE teacher who died of diabetes in 1997, and the ADA aims to curb rising diabetes among youth.
