Voters head to the polls Tuesday for Baytown City Council races with only District 1 contested among five candidates Pat Ball Knowles and C Dutch Pracek seek the District 1 seat. Ball is an insurance man Knowles a retired Southern Pacific employee and Pracek a builder and landlord Braswell and Fanestiel seek seats in other districts as incumbents. Polls open at 7 am and close at 7 pm with about 10 400 eligible voters. turnout may be light after a school trustee election dominated the prior week.

Newcomers Whalen Green and N G Burdin filled Mont Belvieu seats formerly held by retiring officials. Bob Bradley unseated Crosby incumbent A J Schmidt while Truman Reed defended Position 2 against Andrew Spence. In La Porte incumbents Gordon Burdick and D O Laird retained their seats.
