The city announces weekend hours begin in April with the park open Fridays from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and all day Saturdays and Sundays. The plan aims to boost access and recreation during the warmer season.
Baytown moves to secure federal aid to develop a phased airport project. A 250000 dollar bond would fund the initial paved landing strip to serve a DC-3, with FAA financing for half the cost. A new three-member airport committee will oversee the program and report to the council.

Baytown property owners will pay slightly less in fire insurance premiums due to a two cent reduction in the key rate for 24 cents. The change excludes Massey Tompkins Road area until a water diner under construction is finished. Fire Chief Art Lintelman said the rate cut could save owners $5,000 to $7,000 annually, aided by a five percent increase in the city’s good fire record credit, boosting annual savings to about $12,000.
