Baytown police officer Michael Shafer, three years on the force, was knocked unconscious when a 1998 Buick LeSabre driven by Keith Fancher, 37, ran a red light at John Martin Road and the I 10 feeder. Both men were flown to a Houston hospital for non life threatening injuries. Fancher faces pending charges.
Baytown City Council reduced the penalty for tow truck operator David Kostka from 60 days to 45 after an appeals hearing. The February vote by the Baytown Tow Truck Committee had suggested a 60 day suspension from the non-consent tow rotation, to run back to back. Kostka had been initially issued two 30 day suspensions for violations and appealed the decision.
City rules cut suspensions from 60 to 45 days and cite two violations. One bans tow trucks within 500 feet of a scene unless dispatched by a city official. A second violation adds a $150 delivery fee for storage outside Baytown limits, contrary to rules requiring in city storage unless the owner specifies otherwise.
In Texas a five way Democratic race left Kesha Rogers with 21.7 percent to David Alameel's 47 percent for the nomination. Party leadership opposed her candidacy while Rogers promotes an agenda echoing JFK and FDR and accuses President Obama of constitutional crimes. She remains a Fort Bend County resident and LaRouche volunteer campaigning across the state.
