Baytown Union Credit Union Moves To New Substation
Baytown Union Credit Union opens a new 4,000 square foot substation on Alexander Lane, featuring four teller lanes with remote teler units and live lobby tellers, plus pneumatic office tubes for deposits and cash, aligning with Community Resources branding and color scheme. The upgrade follows a 1972 relocation to a 20,000 square foot Decker Drive site as the credit union adopts this new technology.

Mock campaign postponed over downtown election spoof
The city hired H3 on March 25 to push a mock election tied to the Texas Main Street Program with a July deadline. The event at the Dawe House with 20 candidates was canceled last week due to recruitment challenges. Mayor Alfaro, not seeking re-election, opposes treating the mayoral office as a joke, while supporters call the spoof a goodhearted effort to boost downtown awareness.

Winnie Community Hospital touted as critical access with tax plan
Verret outlined Winnie Community Hospital's reopening in 2002 as a critical access facility under Frontier Healthcare. She cited higher Medicare payments, unpaid care costs, and a 48 percent collection rate for ER charges, as residents of Winnie and Stowell bear most self pay. A proposed hospital district tax would fund ER costs via a sales tax, excluding vehicles and utilities, with early voting in April and locations in Anahuac and Winnie.
