The Bayard News, published each Thursday, has its editor and publisher recorded as second class matter at the Port Office in Bayard, Iowa.
Community members share visits and gatherings across Guthrie Center and nearby towns. Friends and families named include Cameron, Ford, Greenlee, Phelps, Shand, Cathermen, and Shard with events ranging from suppers and dinners to Sunday calls and reunions.
A birthday party was held along old 25 with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Walter Friese Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schickana and others. Attendees listed encompass the Friese and Griffin families with dinners and greetings following the event.
Doris Martin and Vernon Patterson noted among local residents hosting and visiting friends and relatives. Many calls, visits, and small gatherings occurred midweek through weekend, including calls to and from Walter Friese, McCool, Hunt, Beddow, and Friese households. travel to Perry, Des Moines, Chicago, and Jamaica for events and shopping.
Observations of visits and events including George Fell in Des Moines and Mr and Mrs Ivyl McCool hosting a postnuptial shower for Mrs Paul Morrow. Oyster supper for Will Miller’s 29th anniversary. various dinners, hospitality at multiple homes, and minor health notes among local families.
D W Fackler spent Tuesday afternoon in Perry. Marylorraine Hutton has been ill for the past few days. Mrs T L Beddon was ill for a few days. Mr and Mrs Harry McDowell and Mrs John Lockwood were in Perry Wednesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Dick Kinney and family of Jamaica were Herndon visitors Wednesday evening. Joe Pell of Bagley visited here Wednesday evening.
Bil Eastman and D Adams visited Guthrie Center on Monday afternoon. Everett Palmer and family from Jefferson visited Herndon on Sunday afternoon. Sam Simmerman was a Jamaica visitor Saturday afternoon. Charles Kinney and wife from Perry visited Herndon Sunday afternoon.
