Bath Opera House Bonds Drive Nets Big War Loan Support
A Bath opera house event raised 178175 in Third War Loan bonds with 173750 from sales at the show and 4425 from auctioned items contributed by Bath merchants. The program featured Best Foot Forward with Lucille Ball and Harry James, an auction led by Bria Jewett, and a Navy gum bid that drew cheers as a sailor won the gum with a donation from Mrs. Burns.

Kateon Auxiliary Holds Inspection With State Chiefs
Ernest Edgar Kateon Auxiliary held its annual inspection at G A R hall Sunday afternoon with strong attendance including members of the Camp as guests. Mrs Cora Keene of Lisbon Falls inspected and praised officers, announced a department membership prize, and urged wartime support. A banquet followed with fricasseed chicken and fall flowers, and plans were made to resume weekly baked bean suppers and host the Department Council on Oct 17.

More than 800 join the Bath Concert Association as 150 new names boost renewals. The season program announced includes Rose Bampton on November 19, a Russian chorus with conductor Nicholas Kostrukoff on December 15, and March 2 featuring the Barry Ensemble of four women instrumentalists.

Opening Day Gunner Totals Hit High Marks on Bay
On Saturday the 1943 season opened with gunners tallying high duck counts. Redford Chris Tensen and Robert Gallagher each shot ten ducks by 10 oclock in the morning near the Bay. Daniel E. Hall Sr and Charles Ham combined for 16 on the Bath shore. Arthur Plant and Herbert McCabe added seven, and Nicholas Micha los bagged nine, with plans to return for more.

City planning war production meeting set at Bath Hall

Two Men Injured in Route 1 Crash In Woolwich
Two men were injured when a car and a truck collided on Route 1 in Woolwich about one eighth of a mile west of the Wiscasset Woolwich line. Deering W Genthner 35 Bremen driver and Frank Corty 59 of 492 Washington St were treated at Memorial Hospital. Corty had head lacerations and Genthner facial injuries. Patrolman Powers said Genthner faces a municipal court charge of reckless driving.
