Grain dust may power engines at grain elevators
Engineers from the U S Department of Agriculture have run a Ford engine on grain dust fed by hand, suggesting dust from grain elevators could be processed to fuel engines. The test required modifications to the engine and a spoonful of dust per explosion, with up to 12 successive blasts observed. A dust carburetor and continuous feed system could improve results, offering power savings and cleaner elevators.
