Social at Woolwich Center Hall and eel exposition plans
Woolwich hosts a church sponsored social at the Woolwich Center Community hall on Friday evening. Eels begin their annual expedition from the lakes in two weeks or less and Pembroke residents George Gough and George Dana prep traps on the Pennamaquan River above the village to conserve the catch and deter muskrat damage by lining traps with small mesh wire. Muskrats often enter eel traps and gnaw holes above the water line allowing eels to escape.
