City Clerk reports Bath has about 400 hunters of all ages applying for licenses. Applicants face red tape, birthplaces and eye color questioned, and parental consent required for under 16. Most youths aged 18 to 70 seek permits, with boy scouts often present in uniforms.
Morse High School Phi Rho debating society began its year with the first initiation, admitting Alexander Burgess Donald Specht Willam Sprague George Colby John Johnson and Hiram Toby. Alumni Harry Thompson and Mason Lemont spoke on parliamentary law and society activities. Plans include another initiation a debate on Boston police and a League of Nations debate.
An automobile ran over a lit lantern placed on a dirt pile near Trask's hill in the Winneganee district to warn traffic of track work. The lantern was shattered during the evening or night, causing the incident on the South end of the car line.

Beginning years ago with the Kennebec machine, they demonstrated action with 200 feet of hose, achieving a 168 foot nozzle stream despite leaks. Stanley W Teasdale chief electrician at the Key West wireless station sent a letter to Mrs Teasdale describing the recent hurricane along the Florida Gulf coast. The storm reached 100 mph winds causing the wireless plant to fail while Teasdale and his crew repeatedly braved danger to restore service. They may award a commendation for duty and risk to the Navy.
Senator Rupert H Baxter of H Baxer Bro arranges surplus cannery sugar to Fuller Holway Co Augusta for Bath shipments. Bath Mayor J Edward Drake seeks relief from American Sugar Refining Co Boston. a carload may ship to Oscar Holway Co or Andrew Merrill with an aim to ship in the week of Sept 22.
Public health nurse Miss June Rideout will depart Saturday for Boston for a four month course in public health nursing focusing on venereal work baby welfare and tuberculosis She will return to Bath in February to resume her duties Maude A Reilly of New Harbor will oversee the Bath program during Rideouts absence She has recently completed two years in army work in Virginia The Bath service has logged 96 patient calls 641 home visits including 11 maternity cases and 154 clinic treatments Two patients died and a 50 cent fee for those who could pay yielded 65 dollars while transportation cost 72 dollars
Plans for a Dutch colonial 150 room hotel named in honor of an Englishman will rise on Center and Middle streets in Bath. J Edward Fuller of the Fuller Construction Co. brought the drawings from Boston and Worcester. The project includes a courtyard lobby, ball room, dining room, two entrances, and modern amenities with a slate roof and brick base. The Bath Hotel Co. targets a half million dollar cost with local subscriptions from $200 up to $10,000, and Charles Averill named managing director.
The John W. Cummings Feldspar Co. near Reed's Wharf in Bath opens a new plant with an engine house nearing completion. The facility crushes and sorts feldspar from Georgetown quarries for shipment to Delaware's pottery factories and other destinations, promising growth and reduced freight costs. The plant will employ many locals and marks a thriving local industry.
