Bath River Town to Build Hunter's Lodge Hotel
Optimism runs high in Bath as promoters push a 400000 Hunter's Lodge hotel project. The plan, shown by J Edward Pulfner, aims for a striking public house to attract travelers and boost local prestige, with regional and out of town investors. Bath Iron Works expands into commercial work, signaling broader prosperity. Parkhurst wins Penobscot county straw vote for governor in 1920 primaries. Bailey concedes. Leonard Woods disputes Baker on army size, echoing wartime policy debates.

Wood proposes lean army and separate aviation unit
Gen. Wood argues for a reduced armed force of about 225,500 to 250,000 men instead of 1,250,000, plus a distinct aviation department. He notes England built 2,000 planes in July, France 500, and the United States 14, with a sharp jab at creating 32 new brigadier generals just to draw pay.
