Birch Trees Protect Pipe At Bath Waterworks
Quantities of young birch trees from Thompson's brook are piled against the crib work supporting the Kennebec river water main to trap sand and strengthen the foundation for Bath water milling. Diver W Scott Tibbetts endorsed the method after last year's Woolwich shore success. Electrolysis threatens a six inch pipe near Gahan's bridge, prompting a new line plan to reduce submersion and lengthen service. A 250 foot section and a 500 foot Oak street run with a hydrant are proposed.

Kenyon Visits Mining Zones During Mingo Strike Probe
United States Senator William E Kenyon of Maine left his Sebasco summer home to gather first hand testimony on the coal miner grievances in the Mingo region. He traveled to the Lick Creek tent colony in West Virginia with Senator Shortbridge of California to hear the miners side. If possible, Kenyon will return to Maine before Congress reconvenes. Mrs Kenyon plans to stay at Sebasco, fond of the Maine area. The tent colony houses miners on a 14 month strike, with early testimony from George Evhols, a Black preacher, who depicted tents damaged by state constabulary and guards and showed his ninth baby as proof of outdoor living.
