In Bath, famed yacht designers W. Starling Burgess and Olin J. Stephens study hull plans for a potential Rainbow defender against Britain’s 1937 challenge. Burgess, designer of Rainbow and Enterprise, shares detail with Stephens, noted for successful racing yacht innovations and future partnership.

Bath voters approved all three liquor related measures and the two additional questions on the statewide referendum. City and county results show split opinions on the liquor questions, which Maine law requires to be voted every two years.
A Bath Junior Chamber of Commerce supper meeting heard from three new Morse teacher coaches Hank Small Johnny Madden and Dunc Farrell as plans were laid for a gigantic rally before the Cheverus game on September 26. Supt Clinton D Wilson praised the Chamber and Board of Education for hiring the men. The group aims to enlist students and citizens in Bath to back the event.

Monday's election in Bath area towns chose two Republican nominees for the Legislature Col Henry W. Owen Jr and Col George A Baker who defeated Democrats George Baer Connard and the late Morris E Povich. Baker has prior terms while Owen is a first timer. Ward totals and town tallies show the final counts with Day Giveen Allen and Larabee among others.
After the election Bath and Sagadahoc County results favored Governor Brann over Senator White. Woolwich backed White, Topsham supported Brann, and Bath largely backed its own governor. Sumner Sewall carried the state Senate race in Bath, while County results highlighted margins for E. Mason Wright and Sheriff Bob Messenger.
Sagadahoc County backed Louis J. Brann for U S Senate and supported Lewis O Barrows for Governor while re electing local officials including Sheriff Charles W Messenger and County Commissioner E Mason Wright. Oliver defeated Hamlin for Congress as Bath showed strong Brann support amid clear town margins. Weather good and voters energized as party committee members urged turnout.
In Bath the election showed a Democratic leaning with Brann leading the U S Senate race by 937, Dubord by 263 for governor, and Oliver ahead of Hamlin by about a dozen. Sumner Sewall carried Bath for state office by 67 over Reed. Harry Plummer topped the sheriff race by 281 over Messenger, while Deering led Dale by 42 on the Democratic ticket. E. Mason Wright won county commission by 255 over Morse. Mrs. Palmer Cobb left for Ardmore and California after cottage time at Birch Point.
