Chapman Concert Proves a Great Treat
Rathousie residents enjoyed a superb program at Wesley Chorea Tuesday night as Prof. William St. Chapman featured soprano Devora Nadworney of the San Carlo Opera Company and violinist Benno Rabinowitsch. Nadworney’s passionate rendition of arias from Carmen, Il Trovatore, Le Prophète, and Samson and Delilah drew strong applause. Rabinowitsch displayed remarkable technique with swift, fluid phrasing in selections like Motets and Violin concert pieces, while Chapman accompanied admirably on the piano. The concert concluded with a Mahler and an encore, and plans were announced for the Maine Music Festival’s return next spring and a forthcoming piano recital by Erwin Nyiregyhazi in April.
