The Reed Main family held its Labor Day reunion at the childhood home in Fast Woolwich known as Goshen. Attendees included FE Reed Main and his wife, L A Bailey and daughter, plus many relatives from Cumberland Center Dresden Mills and Somerville. The event featured a straw ride, a repast of chicken sandwiches fruit and cakes and a decorated Goshen cake, with toasts read by Mrs Bailey and a humorous poem read by Mrs L A Bailey.

A 19 year old girl was sent to Auburn jail for larceny from James C G Purington of Topsham after a string of offenses. She had prior probation in Brunswick and was sought for placement in the Hallowell State School for Girls but found full. Additional peers, also 19, faced similar court actions with probation granted and later work restored.
A neighborhood grocer vents frustration at constant complaints about sugar shortages high prices and profiteering. He says long hours and endless tales push him toward quitting and urges would be shop owners to reconsider the trade.
Henry Carlton of Arrowsic put his launch into operation Thursday to ferry passengers between Arrowsic and Woolwich after the Arrowsic bridge fell. Business was brisk, with mail driver Delano reporting unusually heavy traffic on Wednesday and Thursday, two of the largest loads from Five Islands, many parcels sent home by tourists.
At the last meeting of Dromore grange a committee was appointed to consider repairs to the hall and the badly worn stable. The stable is oversized after the advent of automobiles and there is talk of trimming it to raise funds for repairs.
Pastor E H Post of Beacon Street Methodist plans a fall revival starting early October after a month of Thursday night preparatory talks and Sunday evening services. He returns from East Livermore where he preached daily as evangelist, with planned special music and choir offerings.
