Double Tragedy Drowns Two Woolwich Brothers at Dock
In Woolwich an accident at the old Maine Central ferry dock left Samuel H. Johnson nine and Robert W. Johnson seven dead. The boys disappeared between 5 30 and 11 o clock, their bodies found in the mud flats near the cove as the father reported them missing. Sheriff Henderson and Rusell Colby recovered the bodies. Survived by father and mother Mrs Alice L. Johnson of Richmond and a brother Judson L. Johnson. The father worked at Woolwich and Bath.

Dr Langton T Snipe of Bath estimated death occurred about three weeks earlier. Chase, a former Dartmouth graduate and Oak Creek Inc. founder, lived quietly in Maine after moving from New York City.

Alderman Sam Povich of Ward One and Mrs. Povich escaped injury after their Buick left the road near Armstrong and Jackman on Labor Day. A horse and wagon appeared on a curve, forcing the car into a ditch where the shaft broke, a boulder was plowed, and the car smashed but the occupants suffered no harm. The wreck was towed to Jackman, and Mr. Povich plans no salvage. Freeman Moshier, a Richmond contractor, helped transport them to Bath.

Auto Collision Damages Two Cars at Washington and Russell
A collision at the Washington and Russell streets intersection caused extensive damage to a Model A Ford driven by Harry Oliver of Winneganee and an Essex touring car driven by William L. Mitchell a groceryman at 542 Washington. Mitchell allegedly turned onto Russell as Oliver traveled south, raking the Ford along its left side and breaking the Essex left front wheel.
