Skelton pleads not guilty to murder charge
Alvoid W. Skelton 52 of Bowdoin was indicted for murder in the death of his wife Rachel 52 and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment before Justice Granville C. Gray. He was held without bail in Kennebec County jail after being bound over to the term of Superior Court.

Bearskin dispute ends with Dupont awarded damages
John R. Dupont, Bath Iron Works foreman, sued Howe Fur Co. claiming $150 for his bear skin shot near Millinocket two years earlier and returned C. O. D. He testified the skin Howe claimed was his had a white spot and dull claws, while Dupont’s skin was jet black with sharp claws. Dupont won $150. Also, two civil auto accident suits against the late Capt. Richard Quick were decided with directed verdicts for the defendant.
