Beacon Street's Anniversary Observed At Methodist Church
The 85th anniversary of Beacon Street Methodist Episcopal Church was observed at all services with large audiences including former attendees from nearby cities. The new choir lights were used for the first time, and James A. McLellan was praised for his organ work despite short notice and one rehearsal. Rev Cymbrid Hughes spoke in the morning on worship in spirit and truth, with Ina Stanley Emery singing and Supt. Eugene McGrath assisting. Evening featured Dist. Supt. A. A. Callaghan, Epworth League help, and a vocal duet by Mrs Emery and Miss Margaret Strout, plus a choir anthem. Flowers adorned the pulpit. McLellan presented an organ program.

Davis Destroyer Finishes Trial Run Before Bath Welcome
The U S S Davis left Bath Iron Works at six to conduct its seventh and final official trial, a four and a half hour 30 knot run. It passed the Bluenose near Gloucester during the fishermen race and returned to Seguin at dusk amid praise from Bath officials for the ship and Iron Works.

Clifton S. Seavey of Portsmouth was found guilty by a traverse jury in Sagadahoc Superior Court on an immoral conduct charge involving three Bath grammar school girls. Judge Beliveau fined him 25 dollars and taxed court costs of 200, with the case adjourned to the following Wednesday.

Hodgkins and Fallon Held for Grand Jury by Judge Dunton
Gordon R. Hodgkins alias Jimmy Walsh, city resident, pleaded not guilty to forgery and larceny of an automobile in municipal court. Judge Dunton ordered bonds totaling 700 dollars for appearance at the January Sagadahoc Superior court term. Hodgkins jailed after failing to post within 24 hours. James Fallon of Boston also pleaded not guilty to larceny and posted 500 dollars for January Superior court appearance. Hodgkins implicated King in the forgery and car theft, with King previously pleading guilty then confessing Hodgkins forged the check. County records show exhibits including letters involving Hodgkins and King and a city official letter used for employment in the Bath armory project.

The Bath YMCA gym hosts many special groups and activities beyond the regular schedule. Girl Scouts practice tests on a recent Saturday, and past years saw a State YMCA basketball tournament with both success and elimination.
Anniversary ends with a fine supper
Beacon Street Methodist church marked its 85th anniversary with a covered dish supper attended by 160 people. The Ladies aid and Junior Aid led kitchen and dining room duties, with Rev. Jesse Kenderdine and Toastmaster Milton H. Douglas leading tributes and a history recitation highlighting the church’s long heritage and the Epworth League’s 50th year.
