Bath Water District owns Potter’s Hill where two 55 foot diameter, 50 foot high standpipes with 890000 gallon each capacity were completed at a cost of 24200. Supt. Walter F. Abbott notes potential value around 100000 versus rough county terrain. Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel Co. built them after transporting crew from Syosset L I where a larger 1500000 gallon tank on a trestle cost 125000. Bath Water Project Runs 34 Working Days Despite Weather
Contractors with ten men started work on September 2 and finished October 15, totaling 43 days calendar time but 34 working days after subtracting six Sundays and six Saturday afternoons. Water was turned into the first tank but not fully filled, reaching about 35 feet by Thursday afternoon. No turning time for the second tank yet, pending interior painting.
