Justice Deasy Rules Auction Does Not Determine Value
Justice Deasy holds that an auction sale does not establish true property value in City of Bath vs Arthur G Spear. The case centers on North End Housing Project assessment, with Spear arguing overvaluation and Bath contesting tax fairness. The decision emphasizes equality and uniformity in levies, noting auction price alone is not proof of overvaluation, and discrimination must be shown to merit abatement. The report also mentions road work on Front Street, a Linden Street incident, Ruth Gillette in aviation races, and the Rome government submarine cost.
