William E. Litchfield Christened At Phippsburg Launch
A large crowd gathered at Bowker & Son yard to witness the launching of the three masted schooner William E. Litchfield. Miss Cordelia A. Litchfield christened the vessel named for her father as the party from Bath and Boston arrived for the ceremony. The ship measures 154 feet in length with 34.7 feet beam and 14.1 feet draft, built for southern lumber trade and ready for sea.
