About 70 parents joined a Huse School P T A meeting by taking actual classes with their children. They sang, read, and did arithmetic to gain a better view of current teaching methods. Principal Crockett led the session and the group planned a Kiddie Karnival and year program centered on Modern Child In the Modern Home School And Community.

The Bath Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its monthly meeting at the hospital with Mrs. Duncan MelInnes presiding. The Bath-Brunswick Altrusa Chapter resumes after a summer break with a dinner and business meeting on Oct 24 at Merry Meeting House Brunswick. President Miss Mary C. Rotary Club Observes Annual Ladies Night
The Bath Rotary Club held its annual Ladies Night Tuesday at Central Church parish house with a turkey supper served by the Willing Workers at 6 30. President George Musk welcomed guests and introduced master of ceremonies Frank Keiniig. Earl Farnham led the Rotary song fest with Bill Mennealy at the piano. George Argent spoke on Arcadia National Park and Mt Desert noting its beauty and features including Scoodie Point and the scenic highway. Guests included Mrs. Charles P. Wetherbee and other members’ wives who attended with their husbands.

Maine Red Men Honor Bath Man at Great Council
At the 61st Great Council Fire in Portland, Howard Leavitt of Sasanoa Tribe of Bath was named Great Guard of the Wigwam by Great Sachem Basil Chadburn. Leavitt, foreman at the Times printing department, has long served the order and resides at 418 Front Street with his wife and two sons. The session drew strong attendance and reported a total of over 2,000 Red Men statewide with tribes worth $52,000. the state orphan board noted $84,000 paid for orphans since 1901 plus $1,500 in Christmas donations. A Rockland tribe was instituted last year, with Ernest Alley named deputy for the district that includes Pemaquid, South Bristol, Wiscasset, and Bath.

Bates as vice chairs and William F. Mussenden as treasurer. An advisory board includes Sam Prawer Paul Akeley Earl Lermond and Arthur Sewall 2d along with local residents and hospital officials to discuss finances and the 1949 operating deficit.

Six Indictments Result From Sagada Hoc County Grand Jury
Six indictments were returned by Sagada hoc county Superior Court grand jurors after a session that began Tuesday morning. Albert Wells of Fairfield faced two man slaughter charges related to an August Topsham accident, receiving six months in Kennebec jail on each count, to run concurrently. Maynard Pinkham of Richmond received a six month suspended sentence and one year probation after restitution for embezzlement of 217.37 from Emerson Lane Post. Gerard Bouchard of Lewiston was charged with two counts of check forgery involving Brunswick and another bank.
