A Mason and longtime Georgetown figure Oliver is buried in River View cemetery Topsham with Masonic services in Hingham.
Plans are completed for the Bath Golf Club Oct 19 party. A social hour at 6 30 p m and a buffet supper at 8 p m will follow. Each member provides a covered dish. Members not contacted should notify Mrs John E McCole. Trophies for the past season will be awarded during the evening.
The Five Islands Baptist Church will dedicate its Gray Memorial auditorium and observe the church 100th anniversary Thursday at 730 PM. The new addition includes a kitchen two classrooms and an auditorium seating 75. A glass window was donated by Mr and Mrs Norman Howard of Bath and Five Islands. Dr Elmer Bentley will be guest speaker. Invitations were sent to Georgetown residents and members elsewhere.
Henry Savage of Bath received an indeterminate sentence to the Men's Reformatory at South Windham after pleading guilty to breaking and entering George Lasky's warehouse with intent to steal. Co-defendants Paul Grover Woolwich Errol Pinkham Bath and Richard Anderson Bath had pleas continued. charges mirrored Savage’s. James Kakos’ store and Arthur’s café larceny cases also lingered.
Miss Anne Kimball hosted a small Friday afternoon tea at the Red House for Mrs. Jams A. Bimson of Wiscasset a former Washington Street resident. Pouring were Mrs. Donald N. The Bath area United Fund campaign will deploy over 450 volunteers for house to house solicitation. Mrs. William F. Mussenden, chairwoman, asked residents who already contributed to display a sticker to avoid contacting donors. The list names ward captains and dozens of volunteers across Wards 1 through 7 and North Bath, detailing extensive participation planned for the drive.
Bath Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae held its first annual reunion last June. The June reunion films were shown at the Cosmopolitan club during the group’s Friday meeting. A Scotch auction was held and refreshments served. A refreshments committee for the November meeting was named: Mrs. Estelle Coss, Mrs. Verna Bowie, Mrs. Grace Blair, and Mrs. Ruth Hutchins.
Fred Albert Bubier 88 died Thursday noon at his home on Foster's Point road West Bath. Born in West Bath July 13 1869 he was a son of Kingsbury and Mary Brown Bubier. A retired farmer and sawmill operator he belonged to Winter Street Congregational Bath Polar Star Lodge A F and A M West Bath Grange. Surviving are his widow Bernice Dessie Bubier a daughter Dorothy M Stover Boothbay Harbor a son Howard W Bubier West Bath two sisters Blanche McIver Livermore Falls Cora Griffin Brunswick one brother Bert Bubier Connecticut three granddaughters and one grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Margarete A. Hart of Freeport widow of Frederick L Hart died suddenly Friday at Bath Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born Bowdoin August 25, 1883 to Elisha and Sarah Allen Allen she leaves two sons Charles R Dorsey East Lyme Conn Arthur R Douglas Shelton Conn and two daughters Ethel L Baird South Weymouth Mass and Beatrice L Graham Freeport 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren A former city resident she was a member of the Er nest Edgar Kate on Spanish War veterans Auxiliary.
Mrs Mina May Lowell wife of Loring G Lowell of Phippsburg died Saturday at her home Born Feb 1 1892 in Albion she was a daughter of Rufus and Abbie Hartson Danforth She lived in Detroit Maine before moving to Phippsburg four years ago She was a member of the Christian church of Albion Surviving are her husband two daughters two sons 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
Joseph L Hodgkins infant son of Dale J and Donna Stew art Hodgkins of 10 Pearl Street died Oct 9 at Memorial hospital where he was born Sept 28 Surviving are parents maternal grandparents Donald A Stewart Bath paternal grandparents Russell Farrell South Paris and several aunts and uncles Private committal services were held at 2 pm Friday at the family lot Oak Grove with Rev Martin B Sargent officiating.
Funeral services are scheduled for James Everett Alexander 70 of Cur ey s Harbor who died Sunday evening at Bath Memorial Hospital. He is survived by relatives and friends. Burial will be in Cur ey s Harbor Cemetery with arrangements by the local funeral home.
Born December 11, 1886 in East Harpswell, the evangelist and former pastor of the South Gardiner Baptist church and Milo Church of The Nazarene will be buried in Sebasco cemetery. Surviving are widow Anna Werner Alexander, daughter Isabel Wetzel of Salt Lake City, son Carroll of Portland, sister Lula Parris, brothers Henry, Warren, Lyman and Bert, grandson James Alexander, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Curtis funeral home Tuesday evening.
Lizzie M. Jackson widow of Charles T. Jackson aged 91 dies in Manchester New Hampshire where she lived with her daughter Mrs. Harriet Hill. Born in Harpswell in 1866 she moved to Bath then to Manchester in 1950 and graduated from Old Bath High School in 1886. She was longtime Central Congregational Church leader serving as president of the Ladies Aid and League and was a deaconess. Surviving are her daughter four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services set for 1 30 p m Saturday at Arthur F Mayo Son funeral residence.
Funeral services for Fred Albert Bubier were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Curtis funeral home with the Rev. Martin V. B. Sargent officiating. Bearers were Owen Williams, Elmer B. Williams, Fred Rose, Albert White, Osmond Higgins, and David Ring. Burial was in the family lot at Oak Grove.
Funeral services for Mrs Mina Lowell were held at 1 pm Tuesday at Curtis funeral home with Rev Daniel Crawford of Sebasco officiating. Bearers were Martin Eaton Howard Elliott Everett Lowell and William Gilman. Burial followed in No 4 cemetery Albion. Attending the church school training session were Mrs Vivian Hunter Mrs Leon Gow r Mrs John Coombs Mrs Ida Richardson Carl Taber Mrs Mildred Marble Walter Upham and Rev Dr Oliver W Bell the Wesley Methodist pastor. The school closing session will be held next week.
