Mrs Eliza Dow about sixty lives in Woolwich was struck by a Bronx driver while walking to a store with a basket of eggs. She suffered a fractured leg and possible internal injuries and is in Bath Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The operator William Howard reported the accident. witnesses noted she was on the south side of the highway and believed the car came toward Bath. Dr Harry F Morin treated her. the driver was allowed to proceed.

Attorney John P Carey a Bath Democrat and Maine State Liquor Commission counsel was nominated by Governor Brann to serve as judge of the Bath Municipal Court replacing Judge John J Keegan. Carey, born May 29 1900, educated at Morse High School Boston University and Suffolk Law School, admitted to Maine bar in 1923, as Sagadahoc county attorney in 1933. Bath Church Basketball League opens Oct 20 for 15th year
Pres. Clifton W. Tedford called the Y. M. C. A. Church Basketball League into its 15th season with a first meeting set for Tuesday Oct 20. The league has grown steadily, with about 3 000 participants and 75 000 fans over its history, including 77 games and a track meet last season amid 200 members and 7 000 spectators. St Mary’s triumphed undefeated and also won the track meet while the league emphasizes character building through church participation and volunteer leadership. Opening games are slated for Nov 17 this year, following last year’s Nov 19 start.
