The 7380 feet extension runs Bath to Woolwich, built by the Kennebec Bridge Directors, with Interstate Commerce Commission approval for operation. First train crosses Kennebec bridge at Bath Maine
Engine 278 of the Maine Central with Smith of Brunswick at the throttle led the inaugural crossing of the five million dollar Kennebec Bridge. The Bath freight, with a full crew, completed the round trip in 28 minutes after a brief inspection at the draw.
