Bath residents are urged to show respect for soldiers guarding local industrial plants amid warnings that disparaging remarks could bring consequences from federal authorities. The War Department says guards are essential to deter potential Hun spy or saboteur activity, and offenders may face custody to prove their patriotism.
The frame is up and the roof on for a second story addition to the Maine Central railroad freight office on Centre Street. After completion, the new offices will occupy the upper story while the lower floor, currently used by staff, becomes an extension of the freight shed. Trenches along Centre Street were dug for new gas mains.
The Bowing season in Bath may start late due to the epidemic yet is expected to begin by early next month. Interest in Bath bowling is rising with many young players and improved Y M C A alleys plans. Park alleys will operate and multiple leagues are being discussed, likely keeping Park busy through winter.
Morse High boys faced a bleak season with few out of town games possible due to the grip epidemic. Four or five games were planned on Kelley field, but school closures have delayed practice and may prevent a strong showing when schools reopen.
