Gulls Sighted at Bay Point and Local Industry Growth

On Friday morning two large ocean gulls were seen perched on the Bay Point wharf by Herman A. Spinney who notes it is his first sighting since 1904. The birds, larger than herring gulls with black wings and white bodies, looked for food as local fish run scarce. The Bay Point lobster and clam industry has recently improved with a contract to ship several thousand pounds of lobsters and 75 barrels of clams weekly through Paul's Seafood Market of Boston. Additional clam diggers are expected to move to Bay Point, while cottages and visits around town are described, including a winter insulation project and social visits among residents.
