Street traffic rules and pests spur civic action

The Independent urges cities to adopt traffic regulations similar to Portland to improve safety as car use grows. It also notes a large brown tail moth nest crop and urges early winter tree spraying to control pests, plus a push to secure funding for Maine Governor William King memorial and other local improvements.

Ladies Aid to Build 380 by 30 Foot Hall and Stables

The Ridge church Ladies’ Aid plans a two story building about 380 by 30 feet. Lower floor will hold stalls for about 20 horses. second floor will have two classrooms a kitchen and a meeting area. Groundwork may start next week and completion by spring is doubtful.
