A woman passenger engaged him with religious talk while two others and a man in a sedan with Ohio plates allegedly stole $46 from his wallet. Wreck of the Ship Hanover Remains Lively Bath Exhibit
Ninety years ago on November 9 1849 the ship Hanover of the Houghton fleet Foundered after a gale near Pond Island Bath. All crew perished and bodies were found along Popham Beach with Captain Rogers identified by his new shirt and shave. To popularize the catastrophe painter T C Bartholomew displayed panoramas of the wreck at Bath City Hall December 3 1849. The exhibit promised six views from Seguin to the beach showing the ship breaking apart and the wreckage strewn along the shore admission twelve cents and doors opening at 6:30 pm.

Fourth Company Vets Reunite After 22 Years In Bath
More than 60 veterans of the Fourth Company Maine Coast Artillery gathered at Hotel Phoenix in Bath to recall World War I service. Speakers included Col. Henry W. Owen Jr and Capt. Ralph P. Mank, with a tribute to fallen members and a plan for annual reunions. The unit, formed 1890, served as Co C 2nd Infantry, Co D 1st Infantry, Coast Artillery 4th Company, then Battery D 54th Artillery overseas before mustering out in 1919.

A two story house at 2 High Street owned by William A Brown and Mrs Brown known as the David A Merry home was damaged by fire on Tuesday afternoon. Sparks from the chimney started the blaze causing about 500 in damage and major roof removal. Bath Fire Department responded from two miles away using auxiliary pump from Engine 4 and booster lines due to lack of hydrants.
