Bath aviation expert Stephen Marshall seeks pilot posts
Four major airlines have bid for Bath native Stephen S. Marshall Jr. as a pilot if government ties end. The 26 year old Marine Air Corps officer recently became an instructor at Pensacola Naval Air Station after graduating from the Pensacola program in 1937. He previously served with the Marine Air Corps at Quantico and had interviews with United Airlines, amid a broader career likely in government service or commercial aviation.

State and county authorities closed the inquiry into 15 year old Frank H. Clark’s death in Arrowsic. The body was found in Back River marsh on Sunday October 15 after he had been missing since the prior Friday. An autopsy by State Pathologist Arch H. Morrell concluded drowning.

Humprey A. Owen, a Bath native and former mail carrier, celebrated his 83rd birthday after retiring from the postal service. He served 34 years, beginning in 1888, delivering mail six days a week with long hours, a horse drawn wagon, and early routes from Mechanic Street to Weeks Street.
