Sewall Chapter D A R Meets Tuesday At Central Church
Sewall Chapter D A R held its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at Central church parish house with 37 in attendance. Guest Mrs. George B. Pickering of Gardiner, state chairman of the D A R, attended. A brief program included prayers, pledge, and "America" song. A paper on National Defense was read and the President General's message reviewed. A cooked food sale is planned for Nov 14 at Rogers Hardware to fund a plaque for Valley Forge. Donations were raised for Opportunity Farm. A short Thanksgiving program featured readings on Pilgrim gratitude and Washington's Proclamation. A service table showcased home cooked foods and novelties. Tea followed hosted by several members.

Halloween Party Lights Up City Parade Night
More than 350 boys and girls in Halloween costumes joined a parade through the business district for the fourth Y M C A Halloween parade and party. The Fire Department provided flood lighting as Torrent Fife and Drum Corps led the route with Chief Morarity and officers assisting. Winners included Catherine Casey, Nancy Smith, Susan Petit and others, with judges Doyle Francisco Musk. Refreshments and prizes were donated by local businesses.
