Pine Tree circle C P A celebrated its 26th anniversary with 75 members at Red Men hall. Bridge and whist yielded prizes for Mrs Phoebe Hart Albert Gallant Mrs Mary Murphy and others. Two quilts were sold and a committee oversaw refreshments. Ivory Wiley Emerson Lewiston 88 Civil War veteran died at home born Litchfield July 10 1842 descendant of Michael Emerson first settled Hav erhill in 1653. He served as senior vice commander of the Maine department Grand Army and commander of Custer Post.

Bath Man Archie Gillis Ordained Priest in Portland Cathedrals
Archie D Gillis to be the first Bath native raised to the holy priesthood in the Roman Catholic church. Ordination Saturday at 9 30 am in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Portland with Rev John Gregory Murhy officiating. He will celebrate his first Solemn high mass next Sunday at St Mary's Bath. other ministers named include Rev Timothy Maney Rev Nicholas Horan Rev Joseph Harris and Rev Alexander Doucet. Gillis born St Peters Harbor PEI moved to Bath 1910 attended St Dunstan University Charlottetown class of 1926 and worked for Maine Central railroad before entering Grand Seminary Montreal in 1927.

Chester Muse 28, of 53 Chestnut Street, is in Bath city hospital in critical condition after a wood load shifted when spokes broke on a jigger used to haul cord wood to the Chandler farm in North Bath. Muse was driving with Melvin Greenman and Raymond Crocker, rushed to hospital after the accident Tuesday afternoon.

Oldest Salem fireman native of Bath seeks early retirement
Private Edward M. Mason, born May 26 1860 in Bath Maine, is Salem Mass fire department’s oldest permanent member. After 45 years in service he seeks retirement on half salary at 70, hoping to leave his horse drawn era behind. Mason joined 1886, drove Truck Two 26 years, and aided in the switch to motorized trucks in 1921. He is attached to Engine Five and has four children and six grandchildren.

Richmond Bridge to Open Fall Across Kennebec
The 1272 foot cantilever bridge between Richmond and Dresden over the Kennebec is expected to finish in early Fall. Authorized in 1929, construction began on cement piers in 1930 and the superstructure this month. The six spans include a 70 foot wide draw, 20 foot roadway, and ten foot clearance at mean high tide. Public tolling will end once repayment is complete. D. M. Wood leads construction with American Bridge Co. handling steel work and Cyr Brothers Co. building eight piers and two concrete abutments.
