Bath City to contest late judge's will in Sagadahoc court
The Bath city council voted to spend up to $1,000 to contest the 1927 will of the late Judge James S. Lowell at the June term of Sagadahoc Superior Court. Attorney Edward W. Bridgham said 30 to 40 witnesses and experts would testify to alleged fraud and lack of testamentary capacity, as the city seeks to overturn the 1927 will which omits Bath and reduces funds to Bath’s poor.

Heroic rescue saves two girls from river capsizing
Edward W. Sampson, 15 Dummer street, a Morse high athlete and Railway Express agent, swam about 150 yards towing a capsized boat to shore on the New Meadows river between Birch Point and Brig ham's Cove. Esther Parker 13 and Emily Furber 11 clung to the keel as Sampson freed himself from boots and sweaters to reach safety. The trio were aboard to test the boat when a heavy wave overturned them. Sampson's effort saved all three and medical aid followed at the Furber cottage.
