Genesta chapter O E S marked its forty fourth anniversary with 22 past matrons and 11 past patrons plus one charter member, Miss Annie E. Cox, in attendance. Mrs. Vi ola Osgood led the meeting with a lobster banquet, floral decor, and a gift of leather bound rituals from Mr. and Mrs. Shaw.

Iron Works to Launch Destroyer Robert H. Smith May 25
The Bath Iron Works in Maine will launch the destroyer USS Robert H. Smith on Thursday afternoon May 25 at about 4 30. Mrs. Robert Holmes Smith of Annapolis will sponsor the vessel. Captain Smith, born August 8 1898 in Harrellsville NC, had a long Naval career and was killed January 21 1943 in a naval air transport seaplane accident near Boonville California.

David Y. Alkazin Jr of Bath Maine receives a promotion from First Lieutenant to Captain at an Eighth AAF Composite Station in Northern Ireland. Bath Man Receives Distinguished Flying Cross
Second Lieutenant Arthur Farris Jr., 22, of Bath Maine, co pilot of the Eighth Air Force B 17 Flying Fortress Darlin Dolly, is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement after participating in more than twenty heavy bombing missions against Nazi targets in Germany and occupied Europe. He already holds the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters.

Memorial Day Parade Plans Set For Sunday
