Pvt Phillip E Wyman later reported missing in the Battle of the Bulge was freed from a German POW camp. The Bath Iron Works former sheet metal worker enlisted in 1943 and trained at Fort Bragg before serving with Field Artillery overseas from 1944. His mother Mrs Page Wyman of Mechanic Street received a cablegram Monday night saying he was well and safe and hoped to see her soon.

Russell N Turcotte 1/c survivor of the USS Franklin crew after its March 19 dive bomber strike 66 miles off Japan. He crawled through a porthole, spent two hours in the water, and was rescued by a destroyer before shore duty on a Pacific island. He later served on the SS Del Rio convoy runs and returned to the Franklin task force. A Bath Marine, George Harriman, reports his brother Pvt Richard Harriman USMC also served aboard the Franklin and is missing for over two months.
