Thirty men in Twin County will grow seed potato plots using certified stock under county agent supervision. About 13 will be rogued by the agent or State Crops Specialist from Orono at public demonstrations to show how to combat eight diseases that reduce yields. In Sagadahoc, C H Lamoreau of Richmond and TH J Whitney of Topsham will have plots overseen by the county agent as part of a program to improve seed stock and yields.
Gasoline now retails in Bath at 26 cents a gallon after a one cent rise on Friday. Last summer prices were as low as 17 cents, while reports of higher crude oil production hint stock drawdown amid strong consumption.
