Selectman in Maine Town Charged in Election Duties
Lincoln county grand jury accuses Westport First Selectman Colin R. Dunn of 67 counts for failing to allow voter challenges and to perform duties at the September town polling place. Complainant Richard Fowles cited 19 challenged ballots, including 14 absentees, as the basis for the indictment under a 1935 expansion of voter qualification challenges. County Attorney James B. Perkins notes the charges rest on two statutes, splitting duties across five and three required actions upon receiving a challenge.
