Large city stable destroyed in Saturday night blaze
A Saturday night fire gutted the city stable in Robinsons Lane near Water Street, with seven horses housed there. Five were saved by Chas Fox and Wm Stinson, while Bay Fred and another horse perished. The fire caused extensive damage to adjacent homes and shops, with damages to city property exceeding four thousand dollars and insurance covering only part. Tramps were suspected, and the sprinkler and bucket brigades worked hard to limit the spread.
