Rear Admiral Ralph Wood praises Commander Carlos Lowell Dean of the United States Naval Reserve for outstanding shipbuilding work in Bath Maine from 1939 to 1945. Dean, native of Kenmore New York and a University of Michigan naval architecture graduate, helped boost destroyer and wooden vessel construction efficiency.

Members of the Tri-County Rural Letter Carriers Association of Knox Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties met at North Whitefield and voted to move the annual gathering from February 22 to the third Saturday in May due to travel conditions. Prescott Bond was re elected president Milton Cramer vice president and William H Ketchum secretary treasurer for a 12th year. Delegates to the State Convention at Pine Wood Camps Canton June 28 29 include Karl Hatch William Ketchum and M A Brann with alternates Milton Cramer Charles Plumstead Henry Morin and John Howard. The Tri County Ladies Auxiliary elected Mrs Charles Plumstead president Mrs Charles Hatch vice president and Mrs Ralph Mallett secretary treasurer. State officers Ralph Mallett Byron Burrill and Mrs Aaron Johnson attended. Mrs Alen M Irish and Mrs Lissa Dearborn were visiting Boston.
Conway's setter won the Open Stake at Bath trials with Arthur 3 as owner. High Jacket's Girl and Spotty divided third. Spotty won the puppy stake. Kennebec Lassie and Lady placed second and third in their classes. About 65 spectators braved rain as dogs located birds, with cups and dog food prizes awarded.
The Bath YMCA sent A. M. Main and William C. Periis to the Maine State YMCA convention at the Augusta YMCA. Main was reelected to the executive committee. Sumner Sewall also won a reelection. The gathering approved expanding YMCA work in Maine across five districts with district offices reestablished and full time secretaries. The annual Bath Boys conference will resume at Auburn November 14 to 16.
A Bath Municipal Court session heard Howard La Monde plead not guilty to a driving under the influence charge. Judge Gardiner R. Deering found him guilty and ordered a $100 fine plus $12.39 costs. La Monde appealed to the Sagadahoc County Superior Court and was ordered to post $200 bond for June term.
John B. Goff, son of former Bath resident John F. Goff, was chosen mayor of Maine at the University of Maine. A sophomore with military service, he led a band wagon campaign and a 23 piece band parade. The event, part of campus cleanup, drew faculty and over 1,000 students.
At Bath Municipal Court Clinton A. Fleming pled guilty to possessing five short lobsters and was fined 25 dollars plus 4.70 dollars in costs. Edwin E. Hill pled guilty to reckless driving on the Bath area road and was fined 50 dollars with 7 dollars in costs and a 10 day license suspension. One intoxication case resulted in a 10 dollar fine and 5.15 dollars in costs or 30 days in Kennebec county jail.
Mrs Hiram R Annis of Milan street spoke with her son Ensign Ernest W Marshall in Honolulu as he called from the heavy cruiser Fall River to wish her Mother's Day greetings. The Fall River is to be flagship for atomic tests in the Marshall Islands in July. Mrs Annis has been spending the winter in Laconia New Hampshire.
Roscoe G Bailey and Harold S Ward lead candidates with Republicans choosing a governor candidate. The text also mentions Brewster Poa hos and Robert Hale in reference to regional politics and public figures. The piece notes the dog days of summer named after the Dog Star in the sky.

Mrs. Potter born in Arrowsic June 14, daughter of Charles H. and Mary E. Potter Stinson. She moved to Bath, worked as a clerk, painted, and later did color photography. An avid Braille student and genealogist, she remained civic minded and voted despite ill health. Survived by brother Charles H. Stinson, Gloucester. sister-in-law Mee W. Potter. cousin J. Potter. Funeral Friday at Curtis Funeral Home with Rev. David L. Wilson officiating. burial Oak Grove.
The Sacred Heart Circle of Dan gers Isabella held a meeting with a large audience. A May 21 mall radio quiz social was announced. Gertrude Nugent and committee prepared an unusual program. June plans include Blanche Guay Dora Collins Helen Moses Grace Costain Mary MecElman Louise Edgett Nellie McDonough Curran and Marie Siroils. Members attending the Water Ville Daughters of Isabella state convention will meet Friday at five in front of the Court House.

Cards announce the birth of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Eve Young of Detroit Michigan at Grace Hospital Detroit on September 24. The infant weighed four pounds ounces The mother was formerly Ms. J Junee of Detroit. Mr. Young served in the USA and was discharged honorably in October.
