The Armstrongs plan a larger New Meadows Pound restaurant with Cape Cod style additions. The 35 foot wide kitchen will include oil ranges and new ice cream production on site. A tied riverfront building will house 22,000 pounds of lobsters in 16 tanks and a clam shocker room for frying.
The 8 o'clock program included Court Bugler Arthur Merry leading the Call to Order and Colors. Chairman Lermond spoke followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and introduction of former Lt. A 14 year old deflected her father’s gun during a domestic attack in Auburn. He shot his ex wife Aurora Michaud and killed himself after a wedding celebration for daughter Rose Marie. Aurora was wounded but in good condition in Gardiner hospital. Rita aided by pushing aside the gunman.
A Sunday evening farewell reception at Winter Street Congregational Church honored Rev. Ashton A. Almand and Mrs. Almand. The chapel overflowed with church members and friends as flowers, music, and gifts marked a year of service and his upcoming move to Mobile Alabama after graduating from Boston University.
April weather and temperatures did not compare favorably with the same month a year ago. There were 15 fair days this April versus 17 in 1945, nine rainy days vs five, two snowy days with two inches on April 2, and the ground white on the ninth. Cloudy days totaled four this April against eight last year, while seven mornings were at or below freezing, a condition noted as worse than last year.
Roland Smith Post No 21 of the American Legion initiated forty eight candidates at Morse High School. Commander Howard Pratt presided with toastmaster Eugene Desmond. New members include World War I and II veterans, welcomed by regional officials and post leaders. The event followed a banquet and included a ceremony, colors, and oaths.

Bath plans a modern sanitary sardine canning plant with capacity for about 300000 cans daily. Located at the northern end of the old Texas Steamship Co yard on Front Street by the Kennebec, the three story building will be expanded to three floors. The Bath Canning Co led by Calvin Stinson and M F Mitchell aims for August operation with labor drawn mainly from Bath and nearby.
