Vice President Archibald M. Main and Bath Iron Works engineers aboard the 1570 ton U S S Hughes report final acceptance trials last Tuesday were highly successful. The destroyer left Boston Navy Yard at 6 30 a m and returned at 9 p m after a four hour full speed run amid snow and rain.
The Battery H, organized as J. Horace McClure's unit on June 24, 1925, traces its roots to the Portland Mechanic Blues of 1807. Harold J. Carter, its first enlistee, now serves as 1st Sergeant and armory caretaker. The unit, long linked to Portland’s military history, prepares for a Federal inspection on April 11 led by Maj. Robert DeMerritt and Maj. Vernon Hall. A complimentary dinner for Maj. DeMers is planned, and new pistol rifle shooting, plus a radio-telephone system, enhance the Armory facilities.
Miss Hilda Wunsch daughter of Rev William F Wunsch married George Edgar Worden Saturday afternoon at the Church of the New Jerusalem in Cambridge Massachusetts. Father Wunsch officiated. sisters Gretchen Catherine and Barbara Wunsch served as attendants.
A Republican caucus in Arrowsic on Wednesday night selected Hon. George L. Tarr as a delegate to the Republican State convention in Portland on April 4 with Mrs. James B. McFarland as alternate. The same caucus chose Mrs. McFarland as delegate to the First district convention and Mr. Tarr as alternate.
Edmund A. Rothwell and Miss Bessie E Dickinson win unanimous endorsement for Sagadahoc county seats on the Republican State committee. Arthur K. Purington named convention chairman with Fred W. Quimby as caucus chair. Delegations include 14 delegates to each convention and multiple re‑elective nominations for district and county posts.

Mrs Sumner Sewall opens her home White Hall today for a tea bridge to aid Crippled Children of Maine. Play in bridge starts 2.30 pm and tea served 4 to 6 pm. Tickets and reservations via Mrs Sewall at her home.

Bob Wentworth, now with the New York stage and formerly Phil Beaney of Bath, visited his parents Mr and Mrs Fred Beaney of Woolwich over the weekend. He returns to New York early next week for a TV broadcast and is negotiating for roles in William Saroyans Love's a Sweet Song and the World Fair show The American Jubilee.
A government owned vehicle driven by Emmett R. Byram on High Street collided with two private cars at the intersection. Berton St Clair and John Durgin, driving from Winter and Chestnut respectively, sustained front end damage while the government car had little damage.
The 42nd annual State Conference of the DAR met in Augusta last week with attendees including Mrs. Charles M. Tubb and Miss Ethel M. Blake among others listed by chapter invitation from Roussinoc.

A supper committee and a bowling interlodge planning group are listed along with a May ball to raise funds for the Elks Scholarship and crippled children wards. Several standing committees include Membership and Auditing with named members.
Manuel Bowers of 81 Milan Street and Harold Pride of 83 Milan Street collided at the Western Avenue approach to Bath while driving a 1.5 ton Doyle Express truck and a coupe. Pride delivering letters from the post office and both drivers escaped injury as the coupe sustained major front-end damage and the truck overturned.
The city to form a new municipal building committee within days to address extensive City Hall roof damage. The gravel, pitched roof may require resurfacing at an estimated cost of 7 to 8 dollars per hundred square feet, with the building dimensions about 56 by 82 feet.

Sagadahoc Council Sagadahoc county Grange Masters and Lecturers Council met with Dirigo grange as host. April programs include Home and Garden and Patriots Day. A Past Masters Association was organized with officers Lorenzo Masse of Brunswick as president and Cleveland Arriner of Richmond as vice president. Other past masters from Bowdoin, West Bath, Dirigo, Richmond, Bowdoinham and Brunswick joined.
Miss Bertha Mae Presby daughter of Mr and Mrs John A Presby of Woolwich married Ralph Hughes Card son of Mr and Mrs Otis N E Card at Beacon Street Methodist parsonage. Rev Jesse Kendrined performed the ceremony attended by immediate families. The couple plan a wedding trip to South Hamilton and will reside at 740 Washington Street in the Cummings Apartments after returning.
Donald M. Marshall and Frank S. Martin, both mechanical engineering seniors at the University of Maine, toured multiple Boston area plants including Ford Somerville, Boston Gear in North Quincy, GE Lynn, Warren Pipe Everett, American Steel and Wire Worcester, Worcester Pressed Steel, Boston Woven Hose in Cambridge, Lever Brothers in Cambridge, and MIT aeronautical and mechanical labs.
Sidney Herbert of the Bath Iron Works Production department left for New York City to join Kearfott Engineering Co. after 18 months in Bath. About twenty department employees attended a buffet lunch and social evening at Hotel Bedgwick. Herbert will reside at 40 Summer Street. his father Frederick Herbert is president of Kearfott Engineering Co, a maker of portholes and marine windows for naval vessels.
Marriage returns show Walter Seward Simonton of 477 Washington Street son of Albert H. Simonton of Wiscasset wed Genice Mae Mank of 500 Middle Street daughter of William F. Mank of Waldoboro March 24. The ceremony was performed by Dr. David L. Wilson with Georgiana Simonton and Ruth Simonton as witnesses.
Edward Brown, sealer of weights and measures for Bath and nearby towns, announces state weight cards listing legal weights for 74 commodities. Two sets exist for housewives and merchants, available gratis at City Hall or Brown’s home, 28 Lemont Street. Cards cover bushel to quart measures for all residents in Brown’s jurisdictions.

Mrs Minnie French was elected president of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the Church of the Nazarene at the annual meeting held Thursday afternoon at Miss Alma S Reid's home at 7 Deering Street. Other officers include Mrs Nellie Brown first vice president Miss Lois J Palmer second vice president Mrs Lillian Mayo secretary Miss Reid treasurer Mrs Iva Kenney superintendent of study Mrs Edith Stewart secretary of The Other Sheep Miss Palmer secretary of the Prayer and Fasting League. Annual committee reports were heard.
Mrs Charlotte Owen entertained the Dromore Ladies Aid at 100 High Street. Members and three visitors, eleven in all, spent hours sewing on articles and enjoying a social hour with welsh rarebit cup cakes nabiscoes coffee and mints. Decorations reflected St Patrick’s Day.
