Work begins on Reid Park facilities and access
Construction on toilet facilities and a bathhouse at Reid State Park is underway with an estimated early summer completion. J. H Miller Inc of Bath bid 40 497 for foundations and framing while J. The park has seen steady development since 1949 with a new gate entrance, stone pillars and plaques, and plans for latrines, parking expansion, and electric service funded by state appropriations.

West Point residents in the spring planning stage organize a two day fair to aid the community building funds. local clubs and girl scouts join in crafts seed money for bell installation at the Community church and new street lights. The consolidated school committee met at Phippsburg Center with town officials and school leaders. Red Cross Bloodmobile Visits Bath For Korea War Aid
Bath collected 122 pints of blood for Korea from 12 noon to 6 pm at the Bath Iron Works Recreation Center aided by a medical doctor six nurses and scores of volunteers. The drive exceeded a 100 pint goal by 22 pints and drew on industrial plant workers and sailors from Bath Iron Works with a few ex servicemen turned away for recent donations. The operation ran smoothly with six beds a nurse at each bed Dr Eleanor Robbins supervising and a production line screening donors for health history temperature and blood pressure. The Red Cross plans two more visits this year to reach Bath 1952 quota of 300 pints. First donors included Norman Marriner and Alien Thayer of the Bath Iron Works union.
