Tomato Growers Help Make Selection

Nearly two hundred home gardeners worked with Mrs. Iva Burgess of the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station last year testing early ripening tomato varieties. F.N.C. and Early Danmark were best liked, with F.N.C. proving popular in multiple counties though small in size. Early Danmark performed in some regions but overall acceptance was lower. both remain unfit for marketing due to small fruit size, though earliness and higher Vitamin C content are noted. Cooperators are invited to write for trials information.
